A former EMT with CareFlight (same as Life Flight inHouston (but in  Dallas ) sent this information.  He said do not have the heart attack patient swallow the aspirin but place it under the tongue.  The reason is that there are 2 good size veins (which return blood to heart) that are only covered by a thin layer of membrane.  This allows for the aspirin to almost immediately enter the blood stream going to the heart.  If swallowed, the aspirin has to take a longer journey through the stomach before reaching the heart.  If you go to a mirror and stick out your tongue so that you can see the underside, you can see the 2 blue veins running parallel on either side of the center of the tongue.  This former EMT's Dad was lucky to already know this procedure when he had his heart attack and credits it to saving his life.

Something that we can do to help ourselves.  Nice to know.   Bayer is making crystal aspirin to dissolve under the tongue. They work much faster than the tablets.

Why keep aspirin by your bedside?   About Heart Attacks
There are other symptoms of an heart attack besides   the pain on the left arm.
One must also be aware of   an intense pain on the chinas well as  nausea   and lots of   sweating , however these symptoms may also occur less frequently.

Note :   There may be NO pain in the chest during a heart attack.  The majority of people (about 60%) who  had a heart attack during their sleep, did not wake up.  However, if it occurs, the chest pain may wake you up from your deep sleep.

If that happens, immediately dissolve
two aspirins   in your mouth and swallow them with a bit of water .
Afterwards
phone a neighbor  or a family member who lives very close by   say   "heart attack!"   say that you have taken 2 aspirins .. -   take a seat on a chair or sofa   near the front door, and   wait for their arrival  and ...

Painful realistic story...

Pencil: I'm sorry

Eraser: For what? You didn't do anything wrong.

Pencil: I'm sorry because you get hurt because of me.
Whenever I made a mistake, you're always there to erase it.
But as you make my mistakes vanish, you lose a part of yourself.
You get smaller and smaller each time.

Eraser: That's true. But I don't really mind.
You see, I was made to do this.
I was made to help you whenever you do something wrong.
Even though one day, I know I'll be gone and you'll replace me with a new one, I'm actually happy with my job.
So please, stop worrying. I hate seeing you sad. :)

I found this conversation between the pencil and the eraser very inspirational.
Parents are like the eraser whereas their children are the pencil.
They're always there for their children, cleaning up their mistakes.
Sometimes along the way, they get hurt and become smaller (older, and eventually pass on).
Though their children will eventually find someone new (spouse),
but parents are still happy with what they do for their children, and will always hate seeing their precious ones worrying, or sad.

All my life, I've been the pencil. And it pains me to see the eraser, that is my parents getting smaller and smaller each day.
For I know that one day, all that I'm left with would be eraser shavings and memories of what I used to have.

This is to all the parents out there...
